The kingdom of heaven is like…
What is your view of the kingdom of heaven? Is it something that is in the future for when we die? In other words, as believers in Christ we go to heaven when our lives finish here on earth, for Jesus said, “In my Father’s house there are many rooms if it were not so I would have told you and I go there to prepare a place for you.” (John 14). Yes heaven is something that we obtain in the future but it is also something that we can experience in the present. When Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, as soon as he was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending on him like a dove and alighting on him. (Matthew 3:16)
At that moment Heaven was opened….
With the coming of Jesus, the Messiah to earth, God was ushering in the kingdom of heaven through His son. Heaven was invading earth and wherever Jesus went heaven went with him. The kingdom of heaven was evident through the preaching of the gospel of healings, miracles, signs and wonders. Jesus was developing a culture of heaven on earth and he continues it through his people today.
He taught his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matt 6:18)
This is the prayer, the Kingdom Prayer that calls on the Father to usher in the kingdom of heaven to earth. We can pray “May your kingdom” come to Skye Bible Church, Portree, Isle of Skye, may we see people being saved through preaching of the kingdom of heaven in Jesus’ name, may we see the church wake up and rise up to its proper place in society as a kingdom community of people seeing the transformation of lives, communities and this nation again.
It begins with prayer… seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and everything else will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)
There is an open heaven that wants to invade your life, your family and your community. Jesus said that the Kingdom of God was within you. (Luke 17:21)
Let’s come together in faith, believing that the Lord wants to transform our lives, church and community. I encourage you to sign up for our Prayer Day in partnership with 24-7 prayer movement on Saturday 31st August for 12 hours of prayer, asking for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit from an open heaven. Encourage your family, friends and neighbours to stand with us in prayer as we seek first the kingdom of God for our community.
With love in Jesus. Gary
